Dudson

James Dudson potted in Hanley, Staffordshire from 1838 to 1888. He has been succeeded by eight generations of his family. They are still in business today. The Dudson Pottery is the only English pottery that is still owned by the original family. Dudson started out making table wares and decorative wares. Today they only produce commercial pottery. If you turn your plate over in many restaurants or hotels, you will discover that the setting is made by Dudson. Over the last two centuries, Dudson has been known for its relief-molded (relief moulded) stoneware, jasperware, earthenware and figures. When the Dudson Pottery moved to a new site, experts were able to identify thousands of previously unknown James Dudson patterns from about 3000 molds that were discovered behind the wall of the old site.
