Platters In the 18th and 19th centuries the wealthy purchased large sets of dinnerware. These sets would have a stack of graduated platters to fill every need at the dinner table. Dinner sets were both hand painted and transfer printed. The early transfer printed ones were usually blue, but later on many colors were used. The five towns of the Staffordshire area produced enormous quantities of theses dinner sets. These lovely, antique Georgian and Victorian blue platters are wonderful for use at the table, as well as for decoration. |
