Sprigged Jugs Antique, relief-molded (relief moulded) decoration is done in one of two ways. Either the decoration is molded as a part of the body or the decoration is molded separately and applied to the body with slip or liquid clay. When it is applied, the process is called "sprigging". In either case it is relief decoration, that is, it sticks out from the body of the jug or pitcher, as opposed to being hand painted or transfer printed. |
