Teapots

Arguably one of the most popular and useful shapes for antiques and collectable ceramics is the teapot. It has been produced in a myriad of patterns and shapes, all the way from the delicate, very early Chinese teapots  (tea originated in the Far East and was imported to England in the 17th century) to  the present day's funny and whimsical designs. Porcelain, pottery, parian, jasperware, red ware, stoneware, transferware, relief-molded designs, etc. have all been used to make this pretty and necessary vessel. In Georgian times tea was very expensive, as it was imported from the East and not grown in the West. A whole ceremony grew up around the English, tea table.
